As most of you know my ultimate goal is to be a full time author and writer. I'd love to sell a manuscript and have it published traditionally (and then continue writing and publishing novels for years to come). It's a goal I'm working in fairly regularly lately. I'm still working on finishing my first round of edits on Darkness, and I've started a couple more new projects as well.
Sometimes I sit in my chair at my day job and daydream about staying home to write. How amazing it will be! I've wanted to be an author since I was a kid in school and had a poem published about a tornado. Let's me honest I day dream about it a lot more than just at work :)
I'm always looking for tips and advise to continue working toward this goal (and tips to make it happen faster or more successfully). But in the end I've found that always seeking out motivation and inspiration is a sure bet for me. If I'm always writing and generally putting myself out there something will happen some day. I know it! I've made amazing friends and critique partners since starting to attend writers group and getting active in twitter in the writing community. I have found so many friends and the writing community is so wonderful, I have so many cheerleaders I never get down for long about writing.
I honestly never used to do well with criticisms, but I've gotten a lot better as I've let more critique partners read my work. I've found that their ideas are priceless and have helped to improve my work monumentally. It's hard to see the holes in my work when I've read and reread it so many times. At that point I can't think if anything that is missing, so an outside perspective is so valuable! For this same reason I'm always looking for beta readers. I ask for kindness but also honestly. So if you like either of my manuscript synopses and excerpts and are interested in beta reading let me know :)
Other than that I think I'm going to try to write and edit every single day if that's possible (and maybe read daily too). But I think it's a good idea to look for at least one writing tip a day. I welcome any and all daily writing tips so bring them on!!
Write on lovely friends!!
Writing tip for today: Characters can be unlikable, but they HAVE to be interesting.
