I've finished novel number two and I'm ready for a genre change!
If you've looked at my manuscript synopses and excerpts then you already know that I'm somewhat of a collector of genres. I'm really willing to try most anything out there to see if it's a fit with me.
In my first novel I walked the line of poetic/journal/narrative, young adult, contemporary/coming of age... Yikes what a mouthful! It is a sad, intense, hopeful read and it was just as intense and sad to write. I needed something different after I edited Rearview, so I switched to Darkness.
So with the second novel I did a huge jump to dark and twisted adult thriller. It's creepy and a bit depraved (very adult).
Honestly while writing the thriller I started to get a little freaked out. When I wrote home alone at night I started getting scared and even propped one if my chairs under the door know making sure no one would come in and murder me! So my next project needs to be less scary!
After I edit Darkness I want two write a fairy tale retelling novella. Then after that another full novel.
And with that next novel I'm going to be switching yet again to new adult paranormal romance/action with a splash of glbt.... I swear I just have ADHD and can't focus in one area for too long.
What other genres should I try? Suggestions anyone? What's your favorite genre to read or write?
