Okay here goes... My 2014 Top Books:
It was published on the same day by my same author. I didn't know her before the date rolled around for both of our books to come out, but we bonded over promoting and the struggles of debuting (and having absolutely NO idea what's going on, for a while).
Then I read her book, and she read mine! Her book is fun and sweet and romantic! So stop by and pick up a copy of DANNA.
The voice of the main character is strong, and fun, and just a little snarky. Also... Mermaids! Yes, there are definitely mermaids in this wonderful book. Plus high school romance, which is always worth reading. I mean there are few times in our lives when we feel such crazy emotions as we did in high school. Seriously.
Check out ATARIS!
Now if you aren't one for snark then you may not love this book as much as me (as the title will show it is full of it).
But I loved it. It's witty, clever, charming, and full of personality. The voice is great, and the plot was fun. Fred is a nerdy guy you simply cannot help but adore while you read these (despite what the title says) adventures.
Plus it's full of the supernatural! So give FRED a look-see :)
All I can say is I LOVE THIS BOOK! It's well plotted, and the characters are real and broken (which, hello, you should obviously know by now that I LOVE me some broken characters).
Plus, pink hair... Yes Please! If you can only read a few books in the next year, month, week, rest of your life, I would totally suggest they include my numbers two and one. Check out SHAMELESS!
How could I leave this one off my favorites of 2014?! I wrote it, so of course I love it.
But more than that, I think it's a story worth telling. It's sad and intense, but those stories need airtime too. Depression is a real issue, and it's one that shouldn't be swept under the rug. It's one to discuss. That's why I wrote the book. Plus, it's told in a unique way. Poetry and prose pair phenomenally (see what I did there?!). So if you haven't already, I highly suggest you buy a copy of IN THE REARVIEW!
I think for next year I need to read more books to have a longer top of 2015 list than my 2014 one turned out!
