My lovely husband had the idea to institute no cell phone/social media Sundays in our house. He heard about the idea from a friend at work who reported that it gained appeal as time went on.
We tried it yesterday, and besides a couple uses by each of us, we did pretty good! And I have to say I enjoyed it :) it made me focus more on whatever I was doing. Though it did make it harder to check my fantasy football scores (which were horrible yesterday and now I'm sort of glad it was harder to track throughout the day). It also have me and my hubby a day just for us. It was very nice, and I'm glad that it will be a new tradition in our home on Sundays!
It also made me sit down and write, which had been hard the past week. I had such focus and word count success the weekend previous, and then all last week was a major let down. It was like my balloon was deflated. Every time I had time to sit down and write I had no desire to.
But then yesterday evening I wrote a thousand words! I am about 5k words away from Rearview's edits being finished. It was originally a novel told only in poems and journal entries, but over the last week and a half I have been adding scenes of the main character interacting with whatever/whoever to give more description, length, and depth to the manuscript. I'm hoping to add a total of 10k, so I'm halfway there!
My goal is to finish the last 5k this week, and then do one more read through with editing over the weekend. Then I'm hoping to find a big list of agents to query to next week! At the same time as researching and querying I will pass it to a few betas for insight and opinions!
This all hangs on my staying really focused for the next week..... We'll see!
