So I finished my NA Fantasy WIP a couple weeks ago. Well I finished the first draft... And I started my next WIP! (I'll get into a better description later.) I'm about halfway through the second of four first drafts in six months.
While I wrote the beginning I found myself sucked into distractions. I wasn't exactly sure where the plot of this one was going to take me, so I felt a little suck at times, I let my mind wander and then BAM I'd spent hours being distracted.
Sometimes it helps my writing by giving me a plot idea. Other times it just wastes time. But either way I know it's bound to happen.
Here are a few lovely products of my distraction :)
BUT I had to force myself NOT to succumb to distractions last weekend. and man was that though! I had gotten behind in my 2k a day goal and all of a sudden I need 12k written by the end of the weekend.
That's a flipping lot!
So what did I do? I bribed my friend to stay up for an all nighter on Friday night texting me and writing. With her keeping me on track I couldn't fail right?!
I wrote 8.5k in 6 hours and went to bed at 4am. Then on Saturday I wrote the rest, and hit 12k in 21ish hours. Now I vow to NEVER get behind like that again.
Till next month probably.
For once I actually did a good job refraining from distractions. I gave myself only 5/10 minute breaks to make coffee and walk around (which by the way I didn't do enough of that because my kneed hurt all weekend). I didn't go on twitter or any internet anything! All I did was text to stay awake and check in.
So all in all... Sometimes distractions rock, and other times they suck :)
